September Update: Federal Minister and Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program, Ms. Shazia Marri, chaired a high-level meeting to review the program’s progress aimed at poverty alleviation and social security. During the meeting, it was announced that the program’s budget has increased from PKR 250 billion to PKR 400 billion, marking a substantial 60% increase in this year’s allocation.
September 2023, Update:
The Minister received updates on various initiatives from BISP Secretary Yousuf Khan and the program’s Directors-General. The meeting revealed that an allocation of PKR 70 billion would be disbursed to assist 2.8 million flood-affected individuals, providing PKR 25,000 per affected family. Additionally, eligible families received a petrol subsidy totaling PKR 16.7 billion, with each family receiving PKR 2,000.
Furthermore, the government has raised the stipend for deserving beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Program by 25%. The monthly stipend has been increased from PKR 7,000 to PKR 8,500, with an additional boost to PKR 9,000 from January to March. The number of Benazir beneficiaries has also grown from 7 million households to 9 million households.
New BISP Registration:
Alongside the budget increase, the program has expanded its coverage. The registration for new BISP beneficiaries has commenced, with an additional one million households set to be included. If you have not yet registered and believe you qualify, you now have the opportunity to register.
We will provide a step-by-step guide for applying for new BISP registration. If you were previously deemed ineligible, you can reapply and potentially receive support from the Benazir Income Support Program. The new registration process is ongoing, and household data is being updated. If you were previously ineligible, this is a chance to reassess your household’s status in the National Socioeconomic Registry (NSER).
How to Apply for BISP Online Registration:
- Click on the “Register” button.
- Fill out the registration form.
- Provide your CNIC and contact number.
- Confirm your registration.
BISP Registration via CNIC:
To register for the PKR 25,000 benefit in the Benazir Income Support Program, visit the BISP web portal. Enter your National Identity Card (CNIC) number in the designated box and click “Submit.” You will receive a confirmation SMS with eligibility details shortly afterward.
BISP Registration via 8171:
To register for BISP through the 8171 service:
- Send your CNIC number from the registered SIM.
- Send your CNIC to 8171.
- Await a confirmation response.
- In case of issues, contact the provided support.
BISP Registration Through BISP Office: To register for the Benazir Income Support Program, visit the nearest BISP office. You will receive a registration form to complete and return to the office. Your data will be verified, and you will be notified via SMS if you are eligible for the program. Once you receive the message, you can claim your support from BISP.
NSER Registration Through BISP Tehsil Office: BISP registration is now conducted through the National Socioeconomic Registry (NSER) survey. NSER registration centers have been established in BISP tehsil offices to facilitate deserving and disadvantaged families in registering for the Benazir Income Support Program. Those previously deemed ineligible can participate after rectifying their qualifications.
