COAS Vows to Keep Combating Illegal Activities in Pakistan for Economic Gain (March 2024)


COAS General Syed Asim Munir, in a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee in Lahore, emphasized the continuation of robust law enforcement efforts to eradicate various forms of illegal activities, aiming to alleviate significant economic losses in Pakistan.

The meeting, attended by Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, featured a briefing on the overall security situation. This included updates on actions against electricity and gas theft, hoarding, and foreign currency smuggling, as reported by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Furthermore, discussions revolved around measures taken to safeguard minority communities and the progress of operations in the Kacha area. The forum also examined efforts related to the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals.

General Munir stressed, “Law enforcement actions against a wide spectrum of illegal activities will persist vigorously, in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies and relevant government departments. The objective is to eliminate the substantial economic losses caused by various pilferage methods that persistently afflict Pakistan.”

Additionally, the forum received updates on the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and the Green Punjab initiatives. General Munir underscored the importance of synergy among all relevant departments to ensure the fruitful outcomes of these significant initiatives.

Participants affirmed their commitment, emphasizing that state institutions, government departments, and the people stand united in pursuit of progress and prosperity for the province.
