FIR Filed: PML-N Senator Claims PTI Lawyer Assaulted on TV (April 2024)

In a stunning twist of events on a live television broadcast, a physical altercation erupted between Senator Afnanullah Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat. This shocking incident unfolded during Express News anchor Javed Chaudhry’s talk show “Kal Tak” a few days ago, leaving both viewers and the media community in disbelief.

The altercation, which has since gone viral on social media, occurred when Senator Afnanullah Khan and Sher Afzal Marwat engaged in a heated argument on the show. The disagreement quickly escalated, resulting in Marwat physically assaulting Senator Afnan.

Following Senator Afnan’s request, a case has been filed at Abpara police station under sections 506 and 352 of the Pakistan Penal Code, as reported by the Islamabad Capital Police spokesperson. In his application to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Islamabad, Senator Afnan claimed that Marwat had assaulted him by slapping him three times during the altercation. He mentioned that he had to seek medical treatment for injuries to his face and head as he lost consciousness during the incident.

Javed Chaudhry, the talk show’s host, expressed his astonishment at the unexpected turn of events. He pointed out that while verbal clashes are not uncommon on political talk shows, he never anticipated such a confrontation escalating to physical violence.

Supporters of both PML-N and PTI took to social media to assert the victory of their respective representatives in the altercation. However, the majority of the physical altercation remains unclear in the available video clips.

Senator Afnan and PTI lawyer Marwat each presented their versions of the incident on social media. Senator Khan claimed that Marwat initiated the attack, and he had merely responded in self-defense, emphasizing his commitment to non-violence while invoking his loyalty to Nawaz Sharif (PML-N supremo).

“While I firmly believe in non-violence, I am a dedicated soldier of Nawaz Sharif (PML-N supremo). The lesson that Marwat received is a critical reminder for all members of PTI, particularly Imran Khan. They won’t be able to show their faces, and they would have to wear tinted glasses to hide scars,” Senator Afnan stated in a tweet.

On his YouTube channel, Javed Chaudhry asserted that Afnan had effectively restrained Marwat, bringing the situation under control.

In response, Marwat accused the TV host of spreading misinformation regarding the incident. He denied claims that Senator Afnan had gained the upper hand during the altercation, asserting that Afnanullah Khan had fled the studio and sought refuge in a nearby room.

Following the registration of the case against him, Marwat questioned the narrative presented by certain media personalities, including Javed Chaudhry, and called for clarification on the “black belt” narrative associated with Senator Afnan.

However, Black Belt claimed in his complaint (a complaint shared with me by Mishal Yousafzai) that he was brutally beaten, suffered injuries, and was rendered unconscious. This black belt narrative has seriously damaged public confidence in your professional integrity. Do you all have something to say about this?” Marwat wrote on his official social media handle.
