Petrol prices in Pakistan May Changed From October 1st Expected (March 2024)

The government is poised to reduce petrol prices during the first two weeks of October, providing much-needed relief to consumers who have been grappling with historically high fuel costs in recent months. Petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices are expected to see a significant reduction, potentially up to Rs20 per liter.

This anticipated drop in fuel prices is a result of the international price of oil decreasing from $101 to $99 per barrel. Additionally, lowering petrol prices is expected to contribute to a reduction in inflation, as petrol is a commonly used fuel in private transportation.

If the proposed adjustments are approved, the price of petrol is projected to fall within the range of Rs310-320 per liter, while diesel prices may decline to approximately Rs315-320 per liter.

In September, petrol prices breached the 300-rupee mark as part of the government’s efforts to align with fiscal objectives outlined by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). With Pakistan facing economic challenges, many are concerned that consecutive fuel price hikes could have a detrimental impact on various industries, potentially leading to closures.
