NSER New Registration – BISP Update 2023 NSER Survey

BISP initiated the Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) in 2011, a comprehensive database containing socio-economic information on households collected during the 2010 data collection exercise. This data collection involved visiting every household in Pakistan, resulting in information on 27 million households. This data has been utilized for a decade in implementing BISP and other social security programs.

BISP Program

In 2016, BISP decided to update the NSER 2011 survey, enhancing targeting efficiency for BISP and other programs using the registry. The updated registration aimed to analyze existing beneficiaries, enroll new ones, verify their eligibility, and serve as a platform for other social security programs from 2019 to 2021.

The extensive data collected during the NSER fieldwork allowed for the inclusion of all eligible households in various programs.

Today, BISP still boasts the largest socio-economic database in Pakistan. This database, originating from scientifically designed computerized personal interviews (CAPI-based NSER surveys), continues to determine eligibility for BISP, BISPP, and Ehsaas programs.
